Drop images in and they're compressed — processed locally, never uploaded. Our in-house engine tunes every image, with batch processing, a right-click menu and folder watching all built in — native builds for both Mac and Windows.

Why use the desktop app
Everything the web app does, plus local speed and system integration unique to the desktop
In-house compression engine
Color quantization and encoding are tuned per image, shrinking files by 60% on average with no visible quality loss.
Private local processing
Images are compressed entirely on your computer — never sent over the network or uploaded to a server, so sensitive assets stay safe.
Batch drag-and-drop
Drop a whole folder in at once; with multi-core parallelism, even hundreds of images take just seconds.
Right-click to compress
Select images in Finder or File Explorer and right-click “Compress with MiniPic” — no need to open the app first.
See a prompt the first time you open it? Don't worry
MiniPic is officially signed and notarized. The prompt below is the routine security check for a new app — just follow the steps.
Installing on macOS
Double-click the downloaded .dmg and drag MiniPic into your Applications folder.
If you see “cannot verify developer” on first launch, right-click the icon and choose “Open”, then click “Open” once more.
After that, open it like any other app — you won't see the prompt again.
About this prompt: macOS Gatekeeper checks every newly installed app once. MiniPic is notarized by Apple and safe to use.
Installing on Windows
Double-click the downloaded .exe installer and follow the prompts to finish.
If the blue “Windows protected your PC” dialog appears, click “More info” → “Run anyway”.
Once installed, launch it from the Start menu; the right-click menu is ready too.
About this prompt: SmartScreen warns about new builds that few people have downloaded yet, and the warning goes away on its own as downloads add up. The installer is digitally signed and safe to run.
Alternate downloads and version history
If the main route is slow, use a mirror; older versions and specific architectures are here too. Every installer shares the same signature.
Common questions about versions, requirements and code signing
Is the MiniPic desktop app free?
The desktop app is free to download and use, with core compression working out of the box. Pro unlocks a larger per-file limit, larger batches and advanced quality modes — upgrade on the pricing page when you need it.
Which chip version should I choose on a Mac?
macOS has two installers: choose the “Apple silicon” build (the main button) for M-series chips, and the “Intel” build below it for Intel chips. Not sure? Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner and choose “About This Mac”: if it says “Apple M…”, pick the Apple silicon build; if it says “Intel”, pick the Intel build. An installer for the wrong chip will not open, so just match it here.
What system version do I need?
macOS requires 13 (Ventura) or later, with separate installers for Apple silicon and Intel. Windows requires the 64-bit version of 10 or 11; for ARM-based Windows devices, use the ARM64 build next to the main button.
What if I see “unverified developer” / “Windows protected your PC” on first launch?
This is the normal security check for a new app. On macOS, right-click the icon and choose “Open”; on Windows, click “More info” then “Run anyway.” MiniPic is signed and notarized and safe to install — see the installation steps above.
Are my images uploaded to a server during compression?
No. The desktop app processes everything locally — images are never sent over the network or uploaded. This is exactly why many teams use the desktop app for sensitive assets.
Is there another source if the download is slow?
Yes. Every platform also offers a mirror download (see “Alternate downloads and version history” above), with the same signature and identical file size as the official source, so you can use it with confidence.
